What we do

What’s for Supper is a meal preparation and catering service. We focus on preparing individually-packaged meals that are healthy, delicious and ready to eat. In addition, we cater meetings, receptions and other events. Each week, we prepare freshly-made healthy meals compatible with multiple diet programs and Ideal Protein meals with limited carbohydrates. We also offer a changing menu of Southern, Cajun, French, Italian and other world cuisines. What’s for Supper Healthy Meals are designed to be the heart of a complete, nutritious diet. They are the everything fast food, pre-packaged food is not: fresh, simple with no additives, sweeteners, preservatives or chemical colorings or flavoring. All are made from scratch using whole fresh ingredients, seasonings and herbs. Our Healthy Meals are compatible with a variety of dietary programs, including Keto, Gluten-Free, Paleo, Ideal Protein, Vegetarian and Vegan and in general do not contain dairy products, breads or pasta. Every item includes a list of ingredients, nutritional information with macros. All meals are fully cooked and ready to reheat and enjoy, and reheating instructions are provided.

Ideal Protein Meals

Ideal Protein is a ketogenic weight loss and weight management program with clinics located in Huntsville and throughout the country. Our Ideal Protein meals are created for participants in Phases 1 – 3 of the program. Meals are individually packaged and contain 4 oz of protein and plan-compatible vegetables and seasonings. Some meals will contain a cup or more of vegetables, but it varies so it may be necessary to supplement meals with a salad or other vegetable dish.

Southern, Cajun and Traditional Comfort Food

We also prepare meals from a variety of US and world cuisines – Southern and Cajun, but also Southwestern, French Mediterranean, Spanish and Italian. These meals reflect our love of great food, experience traveling and dining in Europe and the US, and joy in preparing food from many different traditions. These meals are also part of our repertoire for catering special events, receptions and meetings.

No-Salt Meals

Our no-salt, low-carborhydrate meals are available Fridays of every week. Though prepared without salt, the meals are well seasoned and tasty. All are prepared from scratch from fresh vegetables, meats, poultry and fish. Meals are available by monthly subscription with a five-meal per week minimum. We deliver the meals for the week on Friday afternoon. Our no-salt menu is updated weekly with the Friday menu announced Tuesday of each week. Where are we located? Our kitchen is at 2537 Sparkman Drive, Huntsville, AL 35810.

Do we deliver?

We deliver throughout metropolitan Huntsville. Meals are delivered after 3 pm Fridays and may be scheduled at other times during the week. Delivery charges vary according to the distance from our kitchen but is available throughout Huntsville, Madison and Owens Cross Roads. What are the serving sizes? Our meals are fully-cooked and packaged in individual servings. Healthy Meals meals are generally 16 oz though some are up to 24 oz. Ideal Protein meals are include 4 oz of protein and many come in 12 oz containers, except for soups which are all 16 oz. Two-cup servings of Ideal Protein vegetables are also available.

Reheating meals

All our meals are fully cooked and require only reheating. We prefer to steam meals to reheat them: bring a 1/4 cup of water to a boil in a saucepan, add the food and cover. Meals may also be microwaved. If microwaving, heat thawed meals on high for 1-2 minutes, stirring after a minute. Continue if necessary until hot.

Fresh and frozen meals

We prepare meals to be available for pickup or delivery Fridays of each week. Our email newsletter, sent out Mondays, lists new menu items for the week. These items are prepared fresh. We freeze meals at the end of the week. Frozen meals maintain their quality for a longer period.

Do you provide nutritional information?

We include a full list of ingredients and nutritional information for all Healthy Meals and Ideal Protein meals. Do you have gluten-free meals?

Most of our healthy meals are naturally gluten-free since we use no bread or wheat products in our food. All of our healthy meals are also free of dairy products, refined sugar, artificial sweeteners, nitrates and additives. Many of our meals are also compatible with Paleo, Keto, W30 and other diet programs.

How often do you update or change your menu?

We update our menus weekly and post the new menu items every Monday morning. You can see the latest menu here. We notify our customers via email early on Monday mornings and send a reminders later in the week. You can sign up for our email newsletter by clicking here. We also use social media – primarily Facebook – to notify our clients about our weekly meals.

How much do meals cost?

Meals are individually priced and vary depending on serving size, ingredients and preparation. Prices are generally $15 and under, though selected items may be higher.

How to order

Ordering our meals is similar to purchasing any items online. Here are the key steps:
  1. Go to our online store.
  2. Choose the category of meals that works best for you and your family.
  3. Select the meals you want and the quantity you want and select “Add to cart”.
  4. Once you have all the meals you want in your cart, press the “checkout” button and you will be brought to the first of two checkout pages.
  5. The first check out page will ask you how you would like to receive your order. Select “Local Pickup” to choose our kitchen on Sparkman Drive.  Select “Delivery” to have meals delivered to your home or office. Choose “My selected address” option from the drop down menu for the correct address. For both Local Pickup and Delivery you will be asked to select a date and time slot. Complete date and time and click “Next”.
  6. The second checkout page will ask for your name, address, and contact information. There is an option to enter an address other than the billing address if your order is being delivered. You also have the option to leave a note on your order if you have any special requests or instructions. Once completed, select “next”.
  7. On the next page,  review your order and select your payment type. To use a debit or credit card, select the “Paypal” option. If using Paypal, click the “Proceed to Paypal” button. You will be brought to a Paypal checkout page where you will enter your card information or login to a Paypal account. You do not need to have a Paypal account to pay with a card. Once the required information is entered, click the “Pay Now” button and you will be brought to an order confirmation page. To pay with cash or check, select the “Pay By Check” option and click the “Place order” button. You will be brought to an order confirmation page. Once your order is complete, you will receive an order confirmation email that contains a detailed summary of your order.
